Savings Investments

In credit union language, a savings account is called a “share account.” When you open yours at NICCU with a minimum $25 deposit, you're buying your share of ownership in the Credit Union. You'll earn interest on your savings, and the money you deposit enables us to make loans to other Credit Union members, thus completing the cooperative circle. Plus, your deposits are federally insured for up to $250,000 by the National Credit Union Administration (NCUA), and eligible share savings accounts are automatically covered with life savings insurance at no cost to you.

Once your share account is opened, you can take advantage of all the other products and services NICCU offers, including these other savings accounts:

And these hassle-free ways to systematically save:

Looking to set up direct deposit or automatic payments? You'll need NICCU's ROUTING NUMBER, which is 273975564 .

Dollar Dog Savings Program (click to go to the Dollar Dog Website)

All children and grandchildren of our members, up to age 12, are eligible and all it takes is $5 to open a Dollar Dog Kids Club Account. See one of our Members Services Representatives for further details.

Share Savings Accounts
Your regular Share Savings Account is a passbook-style program and is your basic credit union account. Our credit union savings are called "shares," because they are like shares of stock in a corporation; they make you part owner of the credit union.

This account pays dividends from the date of deposit. A minimum deposit is required to open, and you may add to or withdraw from your account at any time. A Share Savings Account must be established and the minimum balance maintained for you to enjoy the benefits of our other services.

Certificates (CD's) and Blue Chip Services
We offer a full range of certificates to meet your savings needs. You may start a CD with as little as $100 and pick a term that is suitable for you.

Blue Chip accounts require a $1000 minimum and may be used like a regular share account – you may add to or withdraw from this account at any time. The rates on this account are based on current market conditions.

Holiday Club Accounts
Our Holiday Club account is your best choice to save for that special season. Unlike Holiday Clubs elsewhere, we give you flexibility. There are no minimum deposits or schedule payments required. You decide when and how much to deposit. Dividends are paid from the date of deposit. November 1st funds are disbursed.

IRA's
Opening an Individual Retirement Account (IRA) at North Iowa Community Credit Union can mean financial security during your retirement years, plus will allow you to reduce your tax dollars daily. IRA contributions may be tax deductible and IRA earnings may be tax deferred.

Government limitations have been set regarding annual contributions and several different programs are available. Thus, we advise you to contact our savings department for complete, current details including the dividend rate.

Savings Bonds
Stop in today and purchase or redeem your savings bonds. Savings bonds are a great way to save your money, as well as to give a gift to a loved one. For more information on rates or which bond may be right for you visit http://www.savingsbonds.gov/

Life Savings Insurance
North Iowa Community Credit Union provides to eligible members a life insurance program up to $4000 at no direct cost to you. This coverage is based on deposits in your share account. For each dollar up to $4000 you deposit, you will receive an additional dollar of life insurance. There are limitations according to member age of deposit.

For full details, call the credit union office.

Savings Deposit Insurance
All North Iowa Community Credit Union member accounts are insured up to $250,000 by the National Credit Union Administration (NCUA), an agency of the U.S. government.
